Donald Trumpâs team has officially launched his new social media platform and it is likely to get a ton of buzz.
The platform, known as GETTR, launched on Thursday and its mission statement reads that it is a place that is âfighting cancel culture, promoting common sense, defending free speech, challenging social media monopolies, and creating a true marketplace of ideas,â Politico reported.
Trumpâs former spokesman, Jason Miller, is leading the platform. A person familiar described the site as similar to Twitter.
Trumpâs involvement with the project is unclear as is whether or not he will set up an account on GETTR and use it, though his proximity to Miller suggests that this may be the latest attempt to get him back in the churn of social media
The former president has been looking for alternative ways to engage with his base online after having been booted off Twitter and suspended from Facebook after encouraging the Capitol rioters on January 6. And his prior effort to engage onlineâthrough the launch of a professional blogâended quickly amid widespread ridicule and poor readership.
GETTR is one of the highest-profile projects in a larger ecosystem of pro-MAGA tech and social media platforms that have blossomed on the right, largely fueled by a sense that Big Tech is attempting to silence conservative and pro-Trump ideology from being disseminated online. In recent months, it was widely reported that the Trump team was searching for a platform on which to re-establish his online presence, either by buying a company outright and rebranding it as his exclusive platform, or becoming a featured draw.
An App Store description of the app calls it a ânon-bias social network for people all over the world.â
âThe app first went live on the Google and Apple app stores in mid-June and was most recently updated Wednesday. Itâs been downloaded over one thousand times on each, drawing positive reviews from users,â Politico said.
Miller announced that the new platform would launch on July 4th.
Jason Miller took to Twitter and announced, âNew social media platform coming soon. DM me to have your handle reserved! Iâve already set aside @Crooked for you-know-who.â

The news comes just days after Trump announced that he had a surprise for big tech and many speculated that it was the long-awaited new social media site.
He appeared via phone call with Newsmaxâs Rob Finnerty and Ric Grenell on Friday and gave an ominous warning to big tech.
âWatch what I do to Big Tech this week,â the 45th President of the United States said in the interview.
âDo you think itâs time to break up Big Tech?â Grennell said to Trump.
âWell, watch next week, because you will see me do something about Big Tech,â Trump said. âAnd people have wanted me to do it a long time.â
âAnd it wonât be too surprising,â he said. âThey donât love me to talk about it early. But watch what I do next week on Big Tech. I think you will find it very interesting.â
It could be that Trump is getting set to launch his own social media website, as has long been hinted about and speculated.
âOver the past four years, my administration delivered for Americans of all backgrounds like never before. Save America is about building on those accomplishments, supporting the brave conservatives who will define the future of the America First Movement, the future of our party, and the future of our beloved country. Save America is also about ensuring that we always keep America First, in our foreign and domestic policy. We take pride in our country, we teach the truth about our history, we celebrate our rich heritage and national traditions, and of course, we respect our great American Flag,â he said of the rally.
It is particularly possible after Twitter banned him for life and Facebook recently announced that its ban of him would continue for a minimum of five years, that Trump could be getting set to start his own social media website.
